Katrina McWilliams – Violin

Katrina McWilliamsKatrina is originally from Sheffield and began learning the violin at the age of seven. Her early experience includes being Leader of Sheffield Youth Orchestra, playing in the World’s Largest Orchestra conducted by Sir Simon Rattle, and winning the top prize for chamber music at several northern music festivals.

Now based in Lichfield, Katrina runs a successful private teaching practice which she balances with a busy freelance playing career, taking her all over the country. She has toured the UK and Ireland several times with classical crossover artists Il Divo, and also with Katherine Jenkins and Lea Salonga. Other recent engagements include concerts with Aled Jones, West End star Shona Lindsay, and renowned sopranos Elizabeth Watts and Claire Rutter.

Katrina enjoys a varied performing schedule which encompasses playing in the theatre for operas and musicals, session work, chamber music and running The McWilliams String Quartet. She also performs regularly with a number of orchestras including Southern Sinfonia, The Midland Sinfonia, and of course DECO.
